We really enjoy fixing sliding doors. It’s one small way to help in these trying times. Did you know there’s a professional solution for nearly all sliding door issues?
In the interim, you can fix your sticking sliding door yourself:
- Screws on the door frame will stop it sliding.
- You could put a wooden wedge under the door.
- If the glasswork is cracked, put a piece of tape across it.

Moving a very heavy sliding door is problematic
You’ll need a sliding door expert like me if you want to navigate anything like moving an enormous door. Finding a skilled person usually means high prices, but you won’t get that with me or if you prepare the area for easy access.
If the sliding door has broken plate or glass parts, then you’re going to need new glass. I’ll have to measure that up and get a piece cut. And, while I don’t charge a call-out fee, I may need to return – to put the door back in place. That would be an additional cost inclusive of labour involved.
In one case, someone asked me to fix a sliding door and there was an enormous bar (filled with wonderful spirits) blocking it. Most of the job was moving the bar just so I could access the sliding door and its track. Obviously you could minimise that cost (and my time) by clearing the way before I arrive.
